Beginners Course Starting February 2017

COURSE FULL!

The next Beginners course will begin on 22nd February 2017

The beginners running course will take you from the sofa to a 5k parkrun in just 9 weeks. After that you will be able to join the white group, our entry level running group for a weekly run, as well as join in the other training sessions, events and runs the club offers.

This course is for anyone who wants to get fitter, enjoy running and become part of an active, social and friendly running club.  Starting off slowing, you gradually build up your fitness and stamina though a combination of walking and running. You will also learn about warming up and cooling down, the importance of stretching and staying hydrated.

The practical bits

When: The course runs for 9 consecutive Wednesdays, however you also need to commit to two ‘homework’ runs in between.  You will need to attend all of the sessions, or be able to complete the runs to enable you to keep track.

The next course starts on Wednesday 22nd February 2017. We will meet at 6.45pm for registration and introductions, before heading out for our session in the local area.

Where:  Meet at Aldershot Cricket Club. The easiest place to park is in Aldershot Park car park, to the left of the cricket club gates.

What do you need? Shoes are the key! These are the one investment you really do need to make. Cutting corners here is a false economy. Reckon on spending between £70-£100 for a decent pair and take advice from a specialist running store. They have trained staff ready to help and who know what it means to be starting out.

It will also be worthwhile buying some specialist running apparel in time as this is designed to keep you cool as it “wicks” away sweat from the body.

You will also need to bring a bottle of water (a small handheld bottle is perfect) to enable you to stay hydrated during and after the session.
