Donations Policy

Giving Back and Supporting Our Community

Blackwater Valley Runners is passionate about fostering a healthy and active Community. We achieve this not just through running, but also by supporting worthy causes. We have a transparent charity donation policy to ensure that all our contributions have a positive impact.

Focusing on Local Impact

We prioritise registered charities that align with our values of health, fitness, and community spirit. This might include local organisations promoting running programs for youth or undeserved communities, initiatives supporting health and wellness, or efforts to improve the local Blackwater Valley area where we train and run. We particularly value charities with a strong connection to the club.

Nominating and Choosing a Charity Partner

If we have surplus funds at the end of our financial year, club members will be asked if they would like to nominate a charity for a donation. Club members should submit their proposal to the club committee for review to ensure that it meets the above criteria. All club members will then be able to vote for their preferred charities, and donations will be made based on their popularity.

Going Beyond Donations – Lending a Running Hand

The club is also able to help organisations by providing manpower to assist with projects and events throughout the year. Typically, we partner with an organisation and provide expertise to stage a running or walking event in the local area. The general public enter the event and raise sponsorship money for the organisation’s cause. The organisation provides some manpower to assist with marshalling on the route, and some volunteers for the start/finish area.
